Plastic surgery has been transformed from a major hospital based procedures involving long in-patient recuperation, to surgery that can often be carried out in a day, allowing patients to recuperate at home.
At Dubai Plastic Surgery Clinic by Dr.Roomic, our mission is our patients’ safety and comfort during and after surgery. Most of the procedures we carry out are either under local anaesthetic with mild sedation (tablets), or intravenous sedation. This way, the risks associated with general anaesthetic are avoided.
We use Klein tumescent local anaesthetic technique to achieve total numbness (anaesthesia) of a large body area such as the face or tummy. Adrenaline (Epinephrine) which forms part of the anaesthetic fluid, shrinks blood vessels rendering the operative area totally bloodless.
The Klein formula of local anaesthetic also reduces the risk of heamatoma and infection associated with general anaesthetic. Furthermore, this fliud stays in the tissue for few days. This means there is very little if any pain after surgery. To further minimize the possibility of infection we supply antiseptic betadine body shampoo for use before surgery.
Coupled with prophylactic antibiotic starting the day before surgery, This dramatically reduces the possibility of infection.
Patients are consulted and fully assessed by our surgeon prior to any procedure. He takes his time talking to establish the patient’s wishes and expectations. He takes a detailed past medical history, so that the treatment is planned with this information in mind.
If the patient represents a surgical risk, he or she will be told frankly and given advice on the management of their condition before surgery is planned. However, the majority of patients are fit and healthy and would be good candidates for surgery.

We have individualized consent forms for the majority of procedures that we carry out. Those are backed up by patient information sheets.
Patients are encouraged to take time to think about the planned procedure and study the information sheet and consent form (which list the potential complications) before making their final decision.
They are also encouraged to feel free to seek a second opinion if they so wish or to change their mind anytime before surgery. This is part of our policy of Good Medical Practice which we adopt.
